I-751 Waiver Approval for Korean Client in Avon Ohio

CASE: I-751 / Waiver of the Joint Waiver Requirement
APPLICANT: Korean
LOCATION: Avon, OH

Our client contacted our office in August 2023 regarding her I-751 filing. She is from South Korea and married a U.S. citizen in January 2020. Through her marriage, she obtained a 2-year green card in September 2021. Her residency terminated in September 2023.

During their marriage, our client and her husband went through struggles. She was the subject of extreme cruelty by her spouse. They lived separately and divorced. Thus, our client could not file the I-751. We advised that we can help her file the I-751 with a waiver of the joint filing requirement because our client entered into the marriage in good faith, and during the marriage, she was the subject of extreme cruelty by her spouse.

On September 14, 2023, our office filed the I-751 application with supporting documents to demonstrate our client’s marriage with her ex-spouse.  In April 2024, the USCIS scheduled an  interview for our client.

Before the interview, our office prepared our client via conference calls. On May 9, 2024, our client was interviewed for her application at the USCIS Cleveland, OH Field Office. Attorney Sung Hee (Glen) Yu, Esq. from our office accompanied our client. The USCIS approved her I-751 on May 15, 2024. Now, she has her ten-year green card.
